Sonnet 9

Sweet tender night with soft and silken charms,

Compassionate beyond day's blinding light,

Enfold my love with soft caressing arms,

Protect her when no longer in my sight.

Quite often is the daylight harshly dressed,

Enflaming hearts ignited by a spark.

Inversion's gripping fingers quite obsessed,

Indifferent to the sun's outlandish lark.

But you sweet night with milky moonlit star,

All Wrapped within a nocturne's pensive stream.

Hang high in perfect silence from afar,

And ride the mystic moisture of a dream.

Hold tightly closed dread time's relentless door,

For lover's hearts enrapt forevermore.
