Sonnet 8

If ever you should turn and look away,

From this poor soul upon this mortal ground,

And say your love is lost and gone astray,

For cupid's dart another heart has found.

Some arrows leave the bow and fly afoul,

And find a mark that was not meant to be,

Or fall upon a cold and fallow soul,

Who'll take your love but give not back to thee,

But if you say your love will never fade,

Nor take from me the gift you did bestow.

The sweetest melody the heavens played,

Which fills my heart with songs that overflow.

So long as I am yours and you are mine,

Forever will you be my Valentine.
