Acrostic 2

Phrynichus

Persia raised her mighty hand and

High upon a tragic hill

Ravaged poor Miletus, beloved lesser town.

Incensed the crying crowd declared

Never to be played again, yet

Imitations still abound among the sands of time.

Copycat, oh copycat, is there another way

Have you not discovered that we all die in vain?

Underneath the burning grit the years have passed away

Still men in masks and cowboy boots, strut upon the stage.

Quatrain 1

Shall I compare you to a play

where summer fairies come to dance,

while courtly ladies sleep all day

and foolish Robin fouls his chance?

Too often plays are but a dream

where asses come a reveling,

and times are not quite what they seem.

Titania's dreams unraveling.

But you dear player to the stars

Making all sweet dreams come true,

Causing the restless heart of Mars

to twinkle as the morning dew.

Shall I compare you to a play?

Or rhyme you to a summer's day?

While shamed planets hide from view
No sparkling star shall outshine you.

What Are You Thinking

What are you thinking you sang

eyes shining with a passion that raised my blood to flame

spider plants swayed in tune from their perch on the wall

to laughed at my opiate whirl

what are you thinking you smiled

the corners of your mouth curling upward

while sweet tunes filled my heart with primal music

and my mouth dried like a desert wind

what are you thinking you whispered

the quicksand of your words poured lead on my helpless soul

and drew me entranced to your side

while the sweet nectar of your lips brushed my cheek

what are you thinking you purred softly

the room swam in a gossamer cloud

and I drowned in the pools of your eyes

adrift in a sea of my own making

what are you thinking you laughed

through the calamity of the moment

as I sank beneath the pain of my existence

and gasped like a drowning man

what are you thinking you sighed

your breasts played a symphony to my cries

then silently slowly you drew me down

the warm moisture of our bodies caressed the dry winter air

what are you thinking you breathed

hours passed like seconds

as my soul rushed through space

lost in your sad brown orbs

what are you thinking you cooed

as the arch of your body drew me across the tide

where I wept warm tears

locked in the joy of your charms

what are you thinking I smiled

as we probed the melody of night

wrapped in a dream of our own passing

while our laughter rang through the years

Infinite Longing

When it grows just like you

Strong, steady, streaming, teaming

Wild life constant flowing

Bubbling churning passionate harmony

Seasons melting, sun shining

Drink from your waters relief

 Refreshing, reflecting distance between

Dim sightless seeing

Transparent webs linking

Your spirits in twine

Hearing, thinking knowing, loving

Crying body crawls

Across the line on hand and knee

Captured in your embrace

Love for no reason

No rhyme nor season

Loving the quiet of your soul

The road leads circling

Bending, trying path

Beyond the endless wandering

Filling our infinite longing

Sonnet 9

Sweet tender night with soft and silken charms,

Compassionate beyond day's blinding light,

Enfold my love with soft caressing arms,

Protect her when no longer in my sight.

Quite often is the daylight harshly dressed,

Enflaming hearts ignited by a spark.

Inversion's gripping fingers quite obsessed,

Indifferent to the sun's outlandish lark.

But you sweet night with milky moonlit star,

All Wrapped within a nocturne's pensive stream.

Hang high in perfect silence from afar,

And ride the mystic moisture of a dream.

Hold tightly closed dread time's relentless door,

For lover's hearts enrapt forevermore.
